Songbirds Of The North Yorkshire Forests And Moors

  • North Yorkshire

Learning bird song can be a daunting task. This tour focuses on birds of woodland and open country in North Yorkshire, getting to grips with a wide range of species from common warblers to finches. The North Yorkshire forests have a great variety of habitats from ancient deciduous to recent coniferous woodlands, containing specialist birds such as Crossbills, Redstarts and Tree Pipits. Close by in the heather of the North York Moors National Park, Whinchats and occasional Ring Ouzels reside.

Our tour aims to teach in a small relaxed group environment, offering plenty of time and discussion with skilled leaders. Daily field trips will visit prime locations looking at a range of species and habitats. On each tour a small number of informal evening lectures will be held as part of the package to discuss the day’s birds, review photos and plan the next day.

Each year we support the work of a nature conservation organisation with a grant from the profits of our tours. Joining one of our tours is a great way to experience this unique area while supporting local wildlife.
