Birding Discovery Days - Forest And River Birds 2020

  • North and East Yorkshire

The Great Yorkshire Forest is one of the few areas of large landscapes in England we can truly call a forest. Habitat networks link the landscape over 30 miles in extent between Scarborough and Sutton Bank in the west. The area is a complex mosaic of ancient woodland, semi-natural woodland, mixed woodland and commercial forest, all set within the beautiful North York Moors National Park. There are four main forest areas; Broxa, Langdale, Dalby and Cropton. Within and around the edges of the forest are many beautiful and historic North Yorkshire villages.

Key Birds: Northern Goshawk, European Honey Buzzard, Common Crossbill, European Nightjar, European Turtle Dove, Tree Pipit, Common Redstart, Pied Flycatcher, Spotted Flycatcher, Dipper, Kingfisher, Grey Wagtail.

Please download our ‘What to Expect from Each Season’ to see more details and which birds you may see on your trip.

These one-day tours are designed for anyone, from beginners to the more experienced, who wish to join an enthusiastic small group tour where they will feel part of a team. Using our up to the minute information from our many contacts in the forest we will tailor the trip to a combination of group requests, weather conditions and the best birds around at the time. Meeting and drop off Crossgates Train Station, Seamer near Scarborough YO12 4LT
