Linda Jenkinson

Personal Profile:

Linda is a Leeds birder with a life-long passion for the natural world. She has a background in animal and human biology moving to biodiversity and conservation where she spent 13 years working in population ecology. One of the most successful research projects she was involved in was to look at the effects of global warming on population dynamics and community structure. Linda has been volunteering with conservation groups since the mid ’80s and has worked with the Leeds Urban Wildlife Group, The Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, the British Trust for Ornithology and the RSPB. While leading the RSPB Leeds Group, she was approached by a local college about providing birdwatching classes. This led to her teaching adult education courses and eventually the launch of her business, Start Birding, in 2001. Since then Linda has fledged many new birdwatchers in and around Leeds. She runs a range of birdwatching classes each week and organises residential tours to Dumfries and Galloway, Northumberland, Norfolk and Suffolk.
