Sunday 25th February….WINTER

Meet at Drewton’s for coffee and bacon sandwiches at 9.00am to receive an introductory talk from Steve about what wildlife we may encounter and look at the techniques you will be using to improve and perfect your photography skills. The morning will be spent at YWT North Cave Wetlands Nature Reserve using the hides to photograph the waterfowl, which congregate there in large numbers through the winter. A hearty lunch awaits at Drewton’s with roast beef and Yorkshire puddings! In the afternoon session we will take a walk into a private area of the estate to photograph wildlife which is rarely seen. We will then return to the farm shop at 3.30pm for tea and cake to finish the session, where photographs can be discussed and advice offered.

Sunday 20th May…. SPRING

The ‘early bird catches the worm’ so we’ll meet at Drewton’s at 7am! The morning will be spent at YWT North Cave Wetlands Nature Reserve using the hides to photograph the spring migrant birdlife it has to offer.  This will be followed by a traditional Yorkshire breakfast at 9.30am back at Drewton’s farm shop. Afterwards, we will venture into the private grounds of Drewton Manor where there will be great viewings of fresh springtime flora and fauna. We will enjoy a picnic lunch before finishing the day at South Cave Falconry for their 1pm ‘Birds of Prey Flying Display’ and extremely rare photo opportunities of three critically endangered Griffon vultures.

Sunday 26th August…. SUMMER

Meet at Drewton’s for coffee and bacon sandwiches at 9.00am. We will spend the morning studying the Red Kites. Nigel Puckrin from the Yorkshire Red Kites Project will be on hand to tell their story, with details of how The Drewton Estate had one of the first recorded nests in East Yorkshire for around 150 years, and how the Red Kites chose to breed on the Drewton Estate! We hope to see the resident muntjac deer and are delighted to share that we have recently had sightings of the rare red deer on the estate. This will be followed by a delicious Afternoon Tea at 12.00pm back at the farm shop. In the afternoon we will head to North Cave Wetlands to photograph the butterflies, dragonflies and flowers, returning to the farm shop at 4.00pm.

Sunday 11th November…. AUTUMN

Meet at 9.00am at Drewton’s for sausage sarnies and coffee. We return to North Cave Wetlands where we hope to see migrant birds and other thriving wildlife. We will then return to The Drewton Estate, for hot soup and sandwiches in the shooting lodge, where there will be good opportunities to photograph game birds and enjoy the autumnal colours of the estate. The course will finish at 3.00pm with a bonfire tea at a private home on the Drewton Estate, where Steve will welcome the opportunity to go through photographs, as the workshops draw to a close for another year!
