Seabirds And Whales - Twilight Trips 2025

These special afternoon/evening boat trips will sail from the wonderful fishing village of Staithes. These trips will last up to three hours and are designed to give people an experince of watching wildlife at sea on a shorter trip. For a longer five hour Seabird and Whale Adventure CLICK HERE.

On our Yorkshire Coast Nature Seabird & Whale Trips in 2024 we saw many seabirds including: Arctic Skuas, Great Skuas, Manx Shearwaters, Sooty Shearwaters, Balearic Shearwaters, Great Shearwater, Atlantic Puffins, Guillemots, Razorbills, Fulmars, Arctic, Common and Roseate Terns, thousands of diving Gannets, Red-throated Divers, Common Scoters and much more including migrant song birds crossing the North Sea and even Peregrine Falcons.

The Yorkshire coast, once famous for its whaling fleet which sailed from Whitby is now becoming famous for its whale watching!

In late summer Minke Whales appear, following the Mackerel shoals, these fantastic mammals are the most regularly seen large cetacean on our coast, watch the YCN video below from some up close whale action. Harbour Porpoise are with us throughout the year and seen on most of our trips. Bottle-nosed Dolphins are now being seen all year round on the coast in increasing numbers. In 2024 we also enjoyed great views of Humpback Whales!

In 2024 we will run our shorter trips from Staithes again with Sean Baxter as our skipper with approximately 3 hours at sea.

Throughout the trip you will have a great opportunity to learn about field craft and identification from our local expert guides in a small friendly group environment. Each tour includes  the boat trip and an expert YCN guide in a small group environment. The meeting point will be the harbour Staithes village in North Yorkshire. A meeting place map will be sent by email along with your booking details.

If you have any mobility issues please email us prior to booking info@yorkshirecoastnature.co.uk

what a great day. I remember on the way up in the car saying it should be fun, but that (and I am ashamed to say this now!) minke whales weren’t the most exciting whales in the world. I take it all back. That was more fun than any whale watching trip I think I’ve been on.
