Yorkshire Coast Nature are excited to bring you these new events celebrating the amazing colour and diversity of our home county. Each day is a journey of discovery, an opportunity to explore a new landscape and its native plants. Each of the walks is led by an expert guide from YCN. Our relaxed learning environment will ensure you learn a lot and have fun. These walks are suitable for beginners and intermediate levels of knowledge.

Flowers and Wildlife on a Lowland Farm
Birkdale Farm is a 300-acre working family farm in the heart of the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. On the farm 100 breeding Romney ewes graze species rich wild flower grasslands and an Environmental Stewardship agreement helps support rare and captivating arable plants, wildflowers, farmland birds and protect soil and water.
We will be hosted by Frances the farmer who is passionate and very knowledgeable about her wild flowers especially scarce arable plants such as; Red Hemp Nettle, Weasel Snout, Corn Mint, Large Flowered Hemp Nettle, Small Flowered Buttercup and Ramping Fumitory. Frances will also be able to tell us about how they manage the farm to create a balance between making a living and conserving the wonderful wildlife habitats on their holding. She has also promised home made cake!
