The forests of the North York Moors National Park and Forestry England are blessed with ideal conditions for experiencing and learning bird sounds. To really hear every note and bathe in this blissful sound you need two things; high-quality habitats and peaceful tranquillity.
Numbers are limited so we can keep the group relatively small to ensure a high-quality experience for everyone.
These walks are accessible for a wide variety of abilities. Each walk will use forest paths on moderately even ground with no steep gradients. The walks are approximately 2km in length. Richard Baines PGdip MCIEEM
Richard’s love of birds and wildlife started at age nine when he watched wide eyed as a charm of European Goldfinch fed on a thistle within a few feet of him in the grounds of his primary school. The next day he was busy drawing the flock in his art class./tutors/2/richard-baines-pgdip-mcieem
Ann North
I was fortunate to attend the Bird Sound Safari with Richard Baines in Dalby Forest in April 2023. It was a relaxed and very informative morning, zoning in to different bird sounds in a variety of habitats, and focusing on listening skills, with easy walking. Highlights, among many, were the high pitched chirp of goldcrests, and hearing then seeing female crossbill with juvenile feeding on the top of spruce. Richard's knowledge and enthusiasm was inspirational. All highly recommended !! And a big thank you !
