Birding Discovery Day - Upland Waders In Spring

The North York Moors remains a stronghold for emblematic species such as Eurasian Curlew, European Golden Plover, Northern Lapwing and Common Snipe. Spring is a great time of year to experince the spectacular display of all of these waders and many more special birds.

Meet your YCN guide John McLoughlin up on the moors for a special day watching and studying these wonderful waders on their moorland nesting grounds.

We will also be on the lookout for other moorland specialists such as Ring Ouzel and Northern Wheatears as well as listening out for distinctive sounds of the returning Common Cuckoos. Birds of prey are represented by Peregrine, Red Kite and Common Buzzard and there is always the chance of coming across the dashing Merlin.

These exclusive one-day tours are designed for everyone - from beginners to the more experienced – who'd like be part of small group tour, creating a real 'team' adventure. Meeting Place; between Hutton-le-Hole and Castleton. Precise location will be sent after your booking.
