Northumberland Wildlife Spectacular 2024

Join us on the 27th, 28th and 29th June 2024 on an incredible wildlife watching and photography trip to the Northumberland coast. We will be visiting the Farne Islands, Coquet Island (no landing allowed) and Long Nanny Nature Reserve including other areas of natural beauty.

This is one of the UK’s seabird photography hotspots, with over 20 species of seabird - including over 90,000 PuffinsGuillemots, Razorbills, Kittiwakes, Fulmars, Shags, Arctic Terns, Common Terns, Sandwich Terns, Little Terns and the very rare Roseate Tern. We also have the opportunity of photographing the Grey Seal colony and a chance of Bottlenose Dolphin and Harbour Porpoise on our journey to and from the islands.

Trip Details: This trip is ideal for those wanting to see and learn about the wildlife and habitats of the Northumberland coast. If you are also interested in photography we will be looking at basic camera techniques and offer tips for capturing incredible wildlife images of some of our iconic seabird species. Our company takes pride in its quality of delivery, maximizing the group size to just 12 clients and delivering group and one-to-one tuition as required.

YCN expert guides Steve Race and Richard Baines will work hard to ensure you have memorable experiences. Our small group tours ensure you learn a great deal, from identification tips to field craft advice, as well as getting to grips with those difficult-to-find species. If you are interested in nature photography, there will be plenty of opportunities to learn new skills or improve your technique from our experienced and enthusiastic photographers.

Trip Leaders: YCN guides Steve Race and Richard Baines.

Company Director And Birding/Wildlife Guide

Richard’s love of birds and wildlife started at age nine when he watched wide eyed as a charm of European Goldfinch fed on a thistle within a few feet of him in the grounds of his primary school. The next day he was busy drawing the flock in his art class./tutors/2/richard-baines-pgdip-mcieem

Steve Midgley

Farne Islands, Northumberland

I recently went on the Northumberland trip with Yorkshire Coast Nature and it was brilliant. It was like being away with your mates who suddenly knew virtually everything about nature, wildlife and photography. Steve and Richard are down to earth but wonderfully informed and full of hints and tips for the photographer as well as pointing out the wildlife you may miss while entertainingly educating you at the same time. The Farnes were unbelievable. Cannot recommend the trip or the company highly enough and I'm already planning my next weekend away with these guys. Thanks again.
