Winter on the Yorkshire coast is a great time for birds and birding, with divers, seaducks, waders, seabirds, a variety of gulls and much more on offer, plus specialist songbirds and even raptors!

Winter on the Yorkshire coast is a great time for birds and birding, with divers, seaducks, waders, seabirds, a variety of gulls and much more on offer, plus specialist songbirds and even raptors!
Join expert local professional guide Mark Pearson on the coast this winter, where we'll look for iconic species such as Great Northern, Red-throated and Black-throated Divers, seaducks such as Common Scoters and Eiders, grebes, a variety of gulls, waders including close-up Purple Sandpipers, Curlews, and many others, as well as the chance of Snow and Lapland Buntings, Black Redstarts, Short-eared Owls and much more!
We'll adapt our plan according to the conditions and the tides on the day, but don't be put off by the weather - harsh conditions could bring us Little Auks, Grey Phalaropes, Long-tailed Ducks and other northern gems, while scarcities we've enjoyed on previous winter tours include Desert Wheatear, Rough-legged Buzzard and Surf Scoter!
A variety of locations including Scarborough, Filey and Flamborough are at our disposal, providing a range of productive habitats and landscapes. We'll visit the most productive of them on the day, and it may well be a combination of several (or even all!) the above locations.... Expect to learn a lot, first hand and in the thick of the action!
Please note: transport is not provided on this day tour. All sites will be in close proximity to the meeting point to be arranged.

Had a fabulous day with Mark last Friday at Flamborough. Saw Siberian Chiffchaff and Dusky Warbler, both first timers for me. I can thoroughly recommend Mark’s Yorkshire Coast Nature trips, whether you are a keen birder or don’t know a sparrow from an owl you’ll still have a great day. He has an encyclopaedic knowledge of all things birding, he imparts it with passion, enthusiasm and humour. Neither myself nor my wife are in the first full flush of youth yet were able to cope with the pace of the day and will definitely book more. Sandy Frew
