Birding Discovery Day - Coastal - Winter 2021
- North and East Yorkshire Coast
Winter in East and North Yorkshire is a great time for many birds, from wildfowl and waders to gulls, songbirds and even raptors!
Join expert local professional guide Mark Pearson at these top sites for unique birding days on the Yorkshire coast this winter. Flamborough Headland, Filey Bay & Brigg and Scarborough are great places for a wide range of fantastic birds from Purple Sandpipers, Snow & Lapland Buntings, Red-necked Grebes, Great Northern & Red-throated Divers, the rarer Black-throated Diver, Short-eared Owls and many more local specialities.
After a strong blow from the north, Little Auks and other Arctic visitors often shelter in our bays, and there's always a good chance of something more unusual. In the last few years on our winter birding days, we have have seen exciting rarities such as Rough-legged Buzzard and Desert Wheatear, and we'll be on the look out for more!
We'll visit the most productive habitats and it may well be a combination of several (or even all!) the above locations.... expect to learn a lot, first hand and in the thick of the action! Please note: transport is not provided on this day tour. All sites will be in close proximity to the meeting point to be arranged.
