April temperatures started around the seasonal average and then cooled down by the end of the month! Despite these depressing conditions there was lots of celebration as the first of our summer migrant birds arrived, filling our coasts, fields and woods with colour and song!

Wildlife Sightings - March 2016

By far the best place in East and North Yorkshire for scarce Gulls was Rufforth near York. On the 1st March there were 4 Glaucous Gulls, 2 Iceland Gulls and 2 Caspian Gulls in the line-up.

Spring is upon us! April is one of the most exciting months of the year as many animals and plants burst onto the scene. From strange ear shaped fungus to parrots of the sea here are a few of our favorite species to look out for this month.

Wildlife Sightings - February 2016

The month kicked off with three species of American wildlfowl still enjoying their Yorkshire winter. The immature male Surf Scoter remained in Filey Bay and the American Wigeon was still at Scalby. Down at Spurn 2 Black Brant also remained with the Brent Geese.
